Real Wedding: Alex & Val at Bridgehampton Surf & Tennis Club

I loved working on this wedding! It was the perfect combination of a super sweet couple (with the most lovely families), a perfect backdrop for an elegant beach wedding and the expert planning skills of Jennifer of JZ Events.

The inspiration for this wedding was a combination of the beautiful beach dunes of the Hamptons along with simple elegance of any fabulous dinner party. The color palette was a muted combination of blues and green for the cocktail hour and soft pink and ivory tones for the reception. The bride wanted to have the decor for the cocktail hour more casual and something slightly more formal for the reception while still in keeping with the beautiful backdrop of the ocean and beach.
Personal touches were used throughout from the sweet pea bouquet requested by the mother of the bride to the hand painted table numbers and menu designed by the father of the bride. Accents of lavender were important to the bride and were used to decorate the ceremony aisle and scattered by the flower girls as they walked down the aisle. Lavender and rosemary sachets were used at every place setting, herbs being an important element to the family as restaurant owners in New York City.

Real Wedding: Sarah and Michael

I posted some details about this wedding a few weeks ago along with some of my not so professional pictures. I was thrilled to get the actual professional shots courtesy of Michael Ash Imagery.

I designed a wedding Memorial Day weekend at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia. It was the second time I worked at the hotel but this time the reception was in the Rose Garden room rather than the Grand Ballroom. While both are lovely spaces I liked the slightly more modern feeling of the 19th floor and the Rose Garden room which was also much better suited for this smaller wedding. I'll post the professional shots as soon as I get them but in the meantime here's a peek at the personal flowers, my favorite thing to design for a wedding.

 I really loved this bouquet!! Lush, romantic white peonies, "Garden Snow" spray roses, "Juliette"  garden roses, mini succulents and peach calla lilies. The ombre peach and ombre gray ribbon were the perfect compliment to the bouquet.

 Let's just say corsages are really not my thing, I'm usually not a fan but I loved the way this turned out. I'm so happy that I didn't try and discourage the bride from her original vision for the bridesmaids. Okay to be honest I did try to change her mind, at first.

Here are my three reasons why: 1) smashed, 2) wilted and 3) beaten, all of which can happen to the flowers while they are swinging around the wrist from the old school elastic wristlet traditionally used to make a corsage. 

But not anymore, these corsage holders allowed me to create more of a flower bracelet, held snugly in place. Picture those "snap" bracelets you had as a kid. You can either tie the ribbon in bow as seen here or leave the streamers to hang from the wrist.

 

So for now I guess I'm a corsage convert...for now.

Merci New York at The Wedding Party

I was lucky enough to partner with Jackie from Merci New York to create beautiful arrangements for her already stunning table at The Wedding Party. In contrast to the table I designed with these watermelon poppies these arrangements had a much more subtle color palette. I used a combination of soft pink ranunculus, white anemones, peach roses, dusty miller and pink sweet peas. They looked so perfect among the stunning jewelry and accessories Jackie featured on her table.

Coral and Grey color pallete at The Wedding Party

I was so happy with the end result of my collaboration with The Wedding Library and Revel. Working only from an inspiration board designed by the ladies over at Revel I chose these watermelon colored poppies and soft pink sweet peas. Simple clear ribbed glass vases were the perfect choice, keeping the overall feel of the table light and airy against the dark steel grey linen. Accented with varied heights of votive candles made it sparkle!
